The primary goals of the Maries County R-1 School District's wellness program are to promote student health, reduce student overweight/obesity, facilitate student learning of lifelong healthy habits and increase student achievement. The School Health Advisory Council is an on-going advisory group composed of members from all aspects of school and community health. Team members work together to ensure that the District's wellness program is working effectively for the health of the students, staff and the community as a whole. Meetings are held twice each school year and are open to parent and community member involvement.
